Uncle Rich was a truly strong life force and made such an impression on me as a child. He truly tried to get to know his nieces and nephews and truly listened. He was a wonderful force for good. Love, Margaret Huber Zander

Dear Huber Clan:

I owe my entire legal career to Dean Huber. His pleasant disposition was unalterable. His commitment to providing racial diversity to not simply BCLS but to the entire legal profession was undeniable.
His determination to breathe human dignity into the practice of law to impact every culture, faith, color, sexual orientation and quadrant of our society is irrefutable, and the HOPE he created to accomplish each one of these aforementioned goals as best described by James Baldwin, was "unspeakable".

I thank God that I was able to experience him as my Dean, My professor and my sgae. He was direct proof that God allows angels to walk among us.

For almost 40 years, Dick has been "Dean Huber" to me.

I once asked, "why he didn't 'command' the law school more?" His reply was that he preferred "a velvet glove," to "an iron fist." So with his soft touch and gentle smile, he guided and cajoled the students, faculty & staff of BC Law School to be our best.

To the family of "Dean Huber," he is still with us and I will forever cherish his friendship...

Steve & Mark,
Thinking of you in this time of loss. Be thankful for the life memories you've shared- that's all a parent really wants. And remember that you can take the boy out of Bano, but you can't take Bano out of the boy.

To the Huber Children -

While unable personally to offer my condolences, I will be present in spirit at this morning's service.

From our first meeting in the Spring of 1971 to discuss auditing a law course(a possiblity then available to spouses of BC faculty), and over the next 40 years, your father was a pillar of strength and support, a mentor who helped me shape and develop as a teacher. During his unprecedented tenure as BCLS dean, he institutionalized initial efforts to recruit and admit African American students begun by Fr. Drinan in the mid-1960's. Indeed, concern for what might follow after his stepping down from the deanship in 1985, prompted the formation of the BCLS/Black Alumni Network.

To all who were privileged to have been students during his deanship, he will always be "THE REAL DEAN".

Dean Huber will be missed. Words escape me now as to how his passing affects us all.Suffice it to say, the world is lessened with his loss. On a personal note,to the extent I have had professional success in the law and in legal education,it is attributable to his patience with me as a student, his guidance upon and subsequent to graduation, and allowing me to serve as his research assistant which gave me great insights into the law and as well helped me support financially my family during my senior year. I will never forget him.
