Dick truly cared about people, and was proud of others' accomplishments. It meant so much to me that he was a part of events in my life when I was a young adult including my commissioning and my wedding. I'll always remember Dick as someone with a smile. Betty, You're all in my prayers, and I'll be at a Mass today for you.

Dear Betty and Richard
I am so sorry to hear about Dick, but we all know that he is at peace now. I met you and Dick over 55 years old and our friendship has alway been the same.
We had many good times living next door to each other. I was there when you son was born, like it was yesterday.
Betty, I will be thinking of you tomorrow, remembering that not so long ago I was in your shoes. All I can say is that be proud and take the flag with a smile and say "Dick" this is for you. Dick was very proud of his time in the Navy. Dick had a lot of friends, because, that was the way he was, every one loved him. Everytime you look at that flag, you will think of Dick and maybe even cry, but that is Ok, it is alright to cry. Just think of how lucky you were to be married to Dick for 58 good years.
May God Bless you Dick and may you rest in peach.

Dick was one of the nicest guys I knew. I always enjoyed running into him whether I was a student at Milton Academy, working at Milton Academy, or visiting Milton. The world is a better place thanks to his time here. God bless him.
