1942 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
RAY, Richard Joseph 74 of Boston, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 22nd, after a courageous battle with cancer at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida. He was born May 7, 1942 to Salvatore Ray and Evelyne Diccio Ray in East Boston, Massachusetts. Richard was a successful entrepreneur, acquiring multiple businesses including automotive rental, commercial and residential real estate, off airport parking facilities, outdoor advertising and restaurants. As a youth, Richard had a love for the sea. He worked with his father on lobster boats and later in life enjoyed many years of sport fishing off the coast of Boston. Being civic minded, he became very involved in coaching youth sports and coached a successful youth hockey team. Richard spent many great years with his family and friends enjoying their company and relaxing at the family's summer home on Lake Winnisquam in Meredith, NH. Richard enjoyed the game of golf and was a member of Andover Country Club in Andover, Massachusetts, also loved his winters residing at Kensington Country Club in Naples, Florida, where he made many close friends. In recent years, with his close friends from Kensington, Richard spent time at various gun clubs in and around Naples enjoying target practice. Richard was a loving husband to Victoria Ray, devoted father to Richard Ray and Michael Ray, caring brother to Andrea Ray and will be missed by his beloved dog Coco Ray. Richard was preceded in death by his wife June Ray and sibling Anne Lucille Ray. A celebration of life will be held at a later date both in Naples, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts.
