Obituary Condolences

TOBIN, Richard L. Of Fort Myers, Florida and Hull, passed away on Thursday June 30, 2016 at the age of 84. Son of the late Anthony G. and Margaret (Sullivan) Tobin. Brother of the late John, Gerard, and Anthony Tobin and late sisters; Mary Tobin, Pauline Stenhouse, Margaret Pellegrini, Frances Gilroy, and Kathleen McKinnon. Richard is survived by many nieces and nephews. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S Marine Corp as a Sargent Major. He also served as a Sargent on the Miami Beach Police Department for 36 years before retiring in 1993. From the professional boxing ring, to the dugouts of major league baseball, to the winners circle at Belmont Park. During his eight year heavyweight boxing career, Richard boxed up and down the east coast and complied a 35-0 record. Baseball provided a more lasting love for Richard as he played for the St. Louis Browns, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Detroit Tigers who he had won the World Series with, earning his World Series Ring. Richard had also owned two race horses, including shares in a Belmont winner, Colonial Affairs. Richard would summer in Hull where he enjoyed his home overlooking the ocean. A memorial service will be held at St. Ann Church, 208 Samoset Avenue, Hull on Saturday, July 16 at 10 a.m. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
