BUOTTE, Robert Albert "Bobby", Jr. Died unexpectedly on October 29, 2010. Chief Warrant Officer Robert "Bobby" Buotte enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in April of 1982. Immediately upon completion of basic training, Bobby was assigned to the Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma, CA where he learned his specialty as a Yeoman. After graduation he was then transferred to his first duty station, Coast Guard Group Atlantic City, NJ. Bobby was promoted after a year and was reassigned to the Integrated Support Command in Boston, MA where he worked for the next five years. It was a passion that captivated him early in his career. Memories and Condolences
for Robert Buotte

Sponsored by Bobby's friends and family. We love and miss you!.

Not sure what to say?

I continue to and will always remember Bobby's calm demeanor. He experienced numerous challenging life events but didn't seem to give up on the positive side of humanity.
This is a loss that one has a difficult time believing but we eventually and sadly realize is very real. The point being that after all these years, I honor Bobby by remembering his incredible contributions to his country, the Coast Guard, and the individuals he led and served.

Living out here on the west coast sometimes news finds me in the strangest of places. The news I received today of Bobby's passing floored me. I served with Bobby during our time together at Woods Hole and we often carpooled in together. "NO" was not part of his vocabulary, even though his love for the Dolphins was. This is a loss for the entire USCG and he will be greatly missed. One great shipmate. Farewell Bobby-B.

This was a shocker to me when I read the notice from Topeka. I had the privilege of attending JUMPPS/PMIS training with Bobby in the mid-80's and we all had a great laugh when US Airways lost the luggage containing his uniform. I know this man was a warrior who will be missed by those who lives he touched.

There are very few people you will meet in you lifetime that you can say "They made a difference" I have had the distinct honor and privilege of knowing such a man in Bobby. His calm demeanor and strong sense of purpose are found in few. I have watched him over the last 30 years develop from a shy teenager to a leader of men. He developed the ability to balance his love and devotion to his family with that of his Country.

Bobby, you will be missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

Dylan and Kristen, when you find it tough going now and throughout life, Take a deep breath, close your eyes and think, what would my dad be telling me right now.

My family grew with the addition of a new sister-in-law and two nieces. Just so we are clear Mal, once your in, there is no getting out.

Dad, I think that the student has become the teacher.

My deepest sympathies to the Buotte family as I just learned of Bobby's passing today. I was stationed with Bobby in the Reserve Administration Branch in Boston from 1983-1985. Bobby was a great Coastie, teacher, and mentor. I was a non-rate striking Yeoman (YN) in the office, and Bobby took me under his wing and taught me what it was like to be a YN. Basically, he instilled in me that we were in the "people" business. Bobby loved the Coast Guard and his family. The Coast Guard and his shipmates have lost a great and honorable servant. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I had the great Honor of serving with Bobby, on the CGC Jarvis in Honolulu Hawaii, Bobby was my room mate at CG Housing when My wife Jean was working on the cruise ship. We had so many good times. Bobby was a great friend and pushed me to make rank. As years roll by I could still count on Bobby to make me laugh, and he always used to say "how you doing Buddy" usually followed by "how is Jean" I will miss our sports banter on the internet. And most of all I will miss my shipmate and friend. ALOHA Bobby..

Dear Buotte Family,

My name is YN1 Kristoffer Werk and I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Buotte or Bobby as I liked to call him on the golf course, as he was my boss at Sector Southeastern New England. Please let me start with saying that I am terribly sorry for your loss! Bobby was a great Coastie and an even better man. There were many times that he and I would just shoot the wind in his office and just crack ourselves up. He could always make me laugh and/or anyone in the office! He was a kind and generous man, especially when he opened his home to all of us for a morale cook out and my going away party. Bobby was an inspiration to me in my career, he was a great teacher, friend and mentor. He inspired not only me but another YN1 (Sarah) to strive for Warrant Officer and wouldn't let us back down from our goals. I remember asking him if I was going to make First Class and he always would tell me not to count my lucky stars...lol, but then the next breath he would say that I would make a great First Class and even better Chief. He always made me feel confident in everything I did or wanted to do, as he did all of his shipmates. He was the first one by your side and the last to leave your side. I know that Bobby loved the Coast Guard and loved his family even more. The Coast Guard and his shipmates have lost a great and honorable man, but I don't have to tell you that! I do have to say though that he made each and every one of us feel like family which made you all our family too. I will miss him greatly and will always be thinking of him as I go through life as I will remember all the life lessons he taught me. I know the lord has him now and he is being well taken care of and that he will be looking down on all of us. Bobby will always be honored, respected and missed by me and the entire Coast Guard family. Please remember that you all are part of the Coast Guard family and if there is anything you should ever need in the future, you have all of us to turn to. We all love you guys and will always love Bobby!!!

All my blessings to you and your family.

"Crossing the Bar"
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
....Alfred Lord Tennyson....

I served with Bob while I was at Gloucester and he was at the Sector in Boston. Man he kept me on my toes with making sure we kept our records straight and files up to date. A true professional and someone I am proud to call my shipmate. Bob shaped many a Coasties paths, a true and respected leader. Thank you Bob for our great conversations!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family this night.

I believe it was back in the 80's when I firsst met Bobby Buotte. Even then, he was full of understanding and compassion to be able to guide others in their Coast Guard career; his yeoman and administrative knowledge was always right on. His smile was a bonus to us. This was even magnified when he made warrant. I'm sure Bobby will be sorely missed by his family, the Coast Guard and all of us who have been associated with him.

Mal and Family. We could not begin to tell you how your husband impacted our lives. You could always count on your mornings being started by Mr. Buotte eating his frosted flakes, reading his newspaper and saying Hello to you as you walked in the door. He was always laughing and joking along with us, even when he was the brunt of the jokes. He would always talk about and send us pictures of his family and tell us how excited he was for each of your successes. When he would send us pictures, the subject line was always read..."Aren't they Beautiful." When you walked into his office you can see how proud he was of each of you and that he loved you so much. He meant very much to us and has been a big part of lives even after knowing him a short amount of time. Even today you can see that we all walk and look to the right and softly say under our breath "Good Morning, Mr. B". We wish you and your family the best and will always be here for you and are more than happy to bring you cannolis whenever you would like them!!

Cousin Bobby, When I received the call that you were gone I thought it was all a dream that wasn't real! Then I started to pray and I knew that we are all part of Gods plan. We all have a mission or calling in our lives and when that mission or calling is finished in this life that we are called to the highest calling, and that is to be with our heavenly Father. Till we meet again!

This is such a loss for the family, friends and acquaintances. A gentle man with a sweet smile. He was always polite and considerate of everyone. I rode with Bobbie first on the train and then on the P&B to and from Boston. He expressed delightment and love in his marriage and of his children. For all of us, his kind soul will be missed.

So very sorry for your loss. I was stationed with Bobby at both Air Station Cape Cod and Group Woods Hole and as a yeoman under his supervision I couldn't have had a better leader in my midst. He is loved. Fondest regards, YN1 Candace Wolcott, USCG, retired.

Bob, the Coast Guard lost more than a guardian, your quiet demeanor and confidence made you a class act at all levels. We are all richer for knowing you and the memories you have left us. May God grant you and your family peace.

I was stationed at Woods Hole from 1995-1999 as the Administrative Officer, where I first met Bobby. I will remember Bobby as being an excellent yeoman who was completely unflappable. He was always the "calm one" in the office and the yeoman everyone went to when they needed help. I had no doubt then that Bobby would make a fine chief and chief warrant officer, if that was his desire. I last spoke to Bobby about 6 months ago when I found out he was assigned there as the Administrative Officer. He loved his new assignment at Woods Hole, the new shipmates, and the old ones we were stationed with there, previously. He said, "Guess who is stationed here as a commander?" Shannon Rooney is an O5, "Man are we getting old, or what?" Above all, I will remember Bobby as a good friend who I kept in contact with since transferring to Hawaii in 1999. My good friends CWO4 John Smelzer, CWO4 Greg Hunton and LT Melissa Ransom each called and emailed me to tell me of Bobby's passing. Bobby has so many people that care about him. God Bless Bobby and the Buotte's. My thoughts and prayers are with them all.

Aloha my friend...
