SUMMIT, Robert D. "Bob" Of Palm City, FL and Waterstone at Wellesley, MA, formerly of Waterbury, CT on Thursday, September 1, 2016. For 68 years, the beloved and devoted husband of Elsie (Gaber). Loving father of Rabbi Jeffrey Summit & his wife Dr. Gail Kaufman and Amy Summit Broder & her husband Dr. Steven Broder. Cherished "Zayde" to Aleza, Ariela and Zachary Summit, David Broder & his wife Elizabeth Royal and Adam Broder & his wife Tanya Janes. Special great- grandfather of Lucy, Avery, Emma and Julia. Dear brother of the late Martin and Jerome Summit. Services at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, BROOKLINE on Sunday, September 4 at 9:30am. Interment at Temple Emeth Memorial Park, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury. Shiva at the home of Rabbi Jeffrey Summit. Shiva visiting hours will be Sunday night through Thursday night from 7-9:00 PM with services at 7:30. Morning services on Monday will be 8:30 AM. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning services will be at 7:00 AM. In the afternoon, visiting hours will be 1-3:30 PM. Please omit flowers. Remembrances may be made to Tufts Hillel. Bob graduated from Connecticut State University. During WW II he served in the Navy in the Pacific theater. Former Chairman and CEO of the Root & Boyd Insurance Agency, he was active in many religious and civic groups, past president of Temple Israel of Waterbury, Conn. and Past President of the Northeast Region of the Union of Reform Judaism. He was a Chartered Underwriter of the American College of Life Underwriters and the Insurance Institute of America. Bob was a Marathon runner and completed nine marathons, including Boston, New York and the original run in Greece from the plains of Marathon to the Acropolis. Bob said of his life, "It was a great run, my best marathon, married to my best friend, sweetheart, and lover in the world, two unbelievable children who gave us two more wonderful children, who are four great friends, five grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren.
