BANFIELD, Robert G. "Cookie" Age 77, formerly of Reading, Mass, passed away peacefully on July 4 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in Boston, Mass on Dec 8th, 1938 to Catherine Grealy Banfield and William J Banfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Banfield O'Brien, brother, William and brother, Patrick. Cookie was married to Martha Herald for over 55 years and lived in Reading, Mass and Drakes Island Maine. Cookie worked with his father and brothers for many years. Some of his successful businesses included WJ Banfield Corp, Banfield & Associates, Lakes Region Disposal, and Banfield Development Corp. He enjoyed fishing, boating and travelling with his wife. In retirement he spent time investing in different business ventures. He is survived by his wife, Martha Banfield; his sons, Kevin and wife, Joanne, from Dover, NH, Robert, Jr and wife, Cheryl, from Kennebunkport Me, his daughter, Anne Banfield of Calastoga Ca; 6 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren. As a family we would like to thank the Hospice Care staff for the incredible compassion and care they provided to our husband and father. Friends may visit from 4-7 PM on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, WELLS, ME. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Holy Spirit Parish - St. Mary's Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, ME.
