Obituary Condolences

LIBERTINE, Robert Louis Of Onset, formerly of Falmouth, died unexpectedly Sunday morning June 12, 2016; he was 69 years old. Rob was the son of Theresa (Pasqualucci) DiTullio of Weymouth and the late S. Robert Libertine of Quincy and the brother of Leslie Libertine of Braintree. He leaves behind many friends and relatives on Cape Cod. Rob was born and raised in Hingham, MA. He attended Thayer Academy in Braintree where he played football and ran track and field. After high school Rob joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country proudly in Vietnam. He received multiple medals including the Navy Cross, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in 1968. After an honorable discharge from the military in 1973, Rob attended Westfield State College and in 1977 graduated with a B.S. in Education. He was a school teacher and coach in Massachusetts after college and again in Idaho and Montana where he moved in the 1980's. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Rob spent many years guiding white-water rafting trips while living there. Rob was an avid body-builder and strength trainer and trained many high school and college athletes both in the west and after returning to Massachusetts in 2005. His passion for strength and conditioning was well-known among his peers and students and he was a mentor to many young men and women. Rob also loved riding his motorcycle, reading, walking along the Cape Cod Canal with his beloved dog Angus, and being with his family. A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, June 29th, at 11:30am at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Burial will be private.
