1940 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
GAUDETTE, Theodore J. Theodore J. Gaudette, 78, of Troy, Virginia, passed away on September 8, 2018 due to complications following heart surgery. Ted was born June 21, 1940, in Metairie, Louisiana to Edward J. Gaudette and Madeline Comeau. Ted grew up in Medford, MA, graduated from Medford High School, and served his country in the US Air Force as a K9 Police Officer in Laon, France. He enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, golfing, softball and most of all running. As one of the original members of the Irish American Track Club he spent many weekends running races including 10 marathons, four of which were Boston. He met his wife playing softball while they both worked for Honeywell in Billerica, MA. After a couple years of working for Raytheon in the Aleutian Islands, he transferred to Virginia. Retiring in 2000, Ted spent the remaining years raising horses and enjoying living in the country with his wife, dogs, and cats. He also got back into golf, cooking and playing softball with the Charlottesville Retreads. Ted leaves his devoted wife of 26 years, Terry (Glass) Gaudette, his beloved dogs Bogie and Bacall; siblings Yvonne Danahy and Jeanne Gaudette (Ray Champagne); siblings in-law, Beverly Gaudette, Claire Gaudette, Sharon Gaudette, Sandy Kirwin, Bill and Gail Glass, Jackie Nyman, Cathy and George Brickelmaier, Rosemary and Herb Funk, Sandy and Joe Salvo, plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Frances Doody and Cecile Lemieux and 3 brothers, Ed, Phil, and Richie Gaudette. Funeral Services will be held at St Francis of Assisi in Medford, MA on Friday, October 12 at 10:00am, followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA. An informal gathering with be held at the Courtyard Marriott in Woburn, MA on Thursday evening October 11, from 5pm - 7pm for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA (3355 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901 - www.caspca.org.
