BERRY, Dr. Thomas Jenner Jr. 84, Of Scituate, formerly of Easton and Brookline passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Nancy Berry, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.|
Devoted father of Christopher F. Berry and his late wife Emeline of Scituate and the late Thomas Jenner Berry, III.
Cherished grandfather of Thomas Jenner Berry, IV and Emeline Francesca Berry.
He was born in Brookline, MA, the son of the late Mary and Thomas Jenner Berry. He was a graduate of Brookline High School and went on to attend Springfield College and Tufts Medical School, where he earned his MD. He served his internship at Georgetown Medical School and returned to MA for his residency in Orthopedics in Boston. He then worked for many years at Brockton Hospital, where he went on to become the Chief of Orthopedics.
During his retirement, he was the head of the volunteering program at the Boston Museum of Science. Throughout his life, he enjoyed sailing, skiing and was an avid runner, and was proud to have completed the Boston Marathon 25 times. For many years, he maintained the title of Fleet Surgeon at the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club.
Visiting hours will take place at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, SCITUATE on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Burial immediately following at Groveland Cemetery.
