To All of You,
Thank you for your kind words of remembrance. Your messages have been most appreciated.
Uwe was a beacon of light for us. His work and travels excited him beyond measure. Everything was a learning experience, which he craved. Being an avid reader on various subjects, he seemed to be the man who knew everything. In his youth, he enjoyed playing in bands. Now, his beloved guitar sits idle, waiting for his original songs to be played. Artistic expression is also left behind with the pictures drawn by him - are still hanging on the walls. At home, he sought quiet times to read, create his math equations, and go for walks in the woods for "Pilze Suchen" or look at nature. His numerous professional accomplishments were met with his famous shrug as he was most humble. Uwe's passing left a void that will never be filled. His essence will forever be in our minds & hearts as time slips into the future.

Uwe has been one of my best friends during school time. We both studied in Saarbruecken, Germany, he in chemistry, me in physics. When his work lead him to USA, the contact has never been interrupted: we always had a lot of subjects to discuss, concernig our work as well as personal topics like the state of our health. The rapid proceeding of Uwe's illness could not weaken his mental strength even in this dramatical situation. After a week of sadness my dominating feeling is gratitude for this long lasting and deep and unforgettable friendship.

Dear Family and Friends of Uwe Neue. Please accept my deepest condolences with the loss of your husband, father and friend. I have known Uwe since more than 20 years since we met at conferences WW. For me, he is most admired for balancing his scientific integrity in separation science with the business requirements of his employer. He didnot compromise in discussing the science with his peers. I have been priviledged to have been one of his peers even working for a competitor of his employer. Let the knowledge of this great reputation be a consolation for you in this difficult time.

Dear Lynda,

I am one of the many scientists whose career has been influenced by Uwe’s work. Much of my understanding of chromatography came from his HPLC book when I was in graduate school in the late 90s, it was really my bible for chromatography. In the past 10 years, I have had the honor of meeting him in person on a couple of occasions at meetings in New Jersey. He jokingly told me that when writing the book, he spent at least an hour every evening after dinner working on it, and sometimes to the dismay of the wife, he forgot to do the dishes. Even though he was one of the great chromatographers of our time, he was extremely approachable. He always wrote back to me, sometimes in considerable length, in our email discussions on several separation science-related topics.

May your fond memories get you through this sorrowful time. My thoughts are with you and your family
