1931 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
WILLIAMS, Virginia M. "Ginny" (Byrne) 85, of Duxbury, passed peacefully onto God on October 21st at her home in Duxbury, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late James Williams, and sister of the late Theresa Crowley, Catherine Gunn, Edward and William Byrne. The beloved mother of her daughters, Maureen Staiano and Karen Williams of Duxbury and Stephanie Oldrid and her husband Rick of Sagamore Beach; and of her sons Jay Williams and his wife Dawn of Plympton, Kevin Williams and his wife Elizabeth of Pembroke, and Mark Williams and his wife Kairyn of Abington. Ginny's life was devoted to raising her family. She loved and took special pride in her many grandchildren: Kristen Fletcher, Eric Uhlendorf, Matthew, Kathleen, Ally and Will Homsy, Michaela and Peter Avitabile, Kianna, Patricia, Samantha and George Carpenter, and Shannon, Jay, Stephen, Sarah, Luke, Poppy, and Charlie Williams, as well as in her great-grandchildren Jaedyn Williams and Blake Fletcher. She was a devoted member of the Holy Family Church, in Duxbury, serving as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and as a Eucharistic Minister. She also brought the Eucharist to the homebound, as well as to those infirmed at Bay Path Nursing Home, where she volunteered weekly for over 30 years. She was awarded the Archdiocese of Boston Cheverus medal, awarded annually to lay parishioners who have served their parish over an extended period of time in a quiet, unassuming, and unrecognized fashion. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 4-7PM at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, HANOVER. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 10AM at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury. Interment will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
