ROCKETT, Willa Wye "The Purple Lady" of Belmont Nov 23, 2013. Born in Needham, Ma. on July 29, 1913 to the late William H. Wye Jr. and Bertha Wye (Conley). Graduated from the Murdock High School in 1929 (Valedictorian). Moved to Belmont in 1931. Then Graduated from Leland Powers School of the Theater, Boston in 1932. Played in Summer Stock Lake Whalom, Fitchburg in 1931. Taught Education and Dramatics from 1932 - 1944. She married Francis W. Rockett in May of 1944. Worked at Mass Bonding Ins. Boston from 1945 - 1971 in the Accounting Dept. and then at J. C. Paige, Boston from 1971-1978 in the Accounting Dept. She was a member of the Belmont Dramatic Club since 1940 and acted in over 18 plays. She joined the Belmont Golden Age Club in 1978. Visiting hours will be held in the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Rd., BELMONT on Friday Dec. 6, 2013 from 3:00-6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Payson Park Church 365 Belmont St Belmont on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Belmont Cemetery.
