Obituary Condolences

FitzGERALD, William Of Bridgewater died at home with his family at his side April 2, 2013 at the age of 91. He lived with his son John's family in Bridgewater, MA for the past 10 years. Bill grew up in Cahirciveen, Country Kerry, Ireland son of the late Catherine (Healy) and William FitzGerald. He received his schooling at the Christian Brothers in Ireland and served six years in the Irish Army. Bill sailed from Ireland for America in 1949 on the George Washington with his brother Jeremiah. Bill raised his family in Quincy, MA with Claire, his wife of 40 years, worked for the phone company for over 30 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He retired with Claire to Bradenton, FL and Pocasset, MA. He also enjoyed singing in the Greater Falmouth Mostly All-Male Men's Chorus with his late companion Margot Rusch. Bill was the loving husband of the late Claire T. McSweeney. He is survived by his children Kerry W. FitzGerald of Scituate, Louise J. FitzGerald and Murray Kerr of Scituate, John K. FitzGerald and wife Madeline of Bridgewater, Helen C. Jarrett and husband Jeremiah N. of CT, Erin F. Keane and husband John of Kingston, Lee FitzGerald of CA, and the late Anthony J. FitzGerald. William was the grandfather of Shannon M., Shane W., and Jake K. FitzGerald, Connor F. and Casey C. Jarrett, and Maeve L., Liam L., and Claire R. Keane. Bill is also survived by many loving relatives overseas. Visiting hours in the Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home 98 Bedford Street Bridgewater Friday beginning at 4:00pm and ending with a Memorial Service at 6:45 pm.
