1927 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
GLEASON, William H., Jr. Of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, formerly of Wellesley, passed away on July 30th, 2016. He was 89 years old. Born in Natick to the late William H. Gleason and Mildred (Roberts) Gleason. Bill grew up in Wellesley, and graduated from Wellesley High School in 1944. He then served in the United States Navy for two years on the Warship USS Topeka (CL 67). In 1946, Bill joined the family business, Gleason Engineering Company, and attended Northeastern University. In 1951, he joined the Wellesley Co-operative Bank and became Chief Executive Office in 1958. Bill remained with the bank for 33 years as Chairman of the Board & President, retiring in 1991 to his home in Yarmouth Port, Cape Cod. He was a former member of the Wellesley Club and the Kiwanis Club of Wellesley for 33 years. Bill is survived by his loving daughter, Susan Lee Gleason of Gloucester, a sister, Janet Nolan of So. Yarmouth, a daughter-in-law, Carol Gleason and three grandsons: Timothy, Peter and Matthew of Westminster, Colorado. He was predeceased by his sons, Christopher David Gleason and William James Gleason, and a sister, Shirley Gleason of So. Yarmouth. In honoring with Bill's requests, there will be no visiting hours, and Funeral Services will be private. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
