Blair Lent

LENT, Blair Died on January 27, 2009, just after his 80th birthday. Renowned American author, artist and illustrator. The Caldecott Medal and three time Caldecott Honors winner, he was one of the most widely read and popular children's book illustrators and authors and was best known for his work in Tikki Tikki Tembo. Mr. Lent was born January 22, 1929 in Boston, MA. A graduate of the Museum of Fine Arts School in 1953, he later studied art in Switzerland and Italy. Among the many children's books of which he was the author or illustrator were The Funny Little Woman, Why the Sun and the Moon Live in the Sky, The Angry Moon and The Wave. Services will be private. Contributions in Blair's name may be made to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, the Kerlan Collection at the University of Minnesota Libraries or the Mazza Museum, Findlay, Ohio.
