Curwen, Ruth Miller
Resident of Westwood, MA for over 50 years died on Monday, December 24, 2012 at home. She was 81. Ruth was born in Harrisburg, PA to William Miller and Alice Goltermann Miller. She graduated from the Cambridge School of Weston in 1948, followed by a post graduate year at Northfield Mount Hermon, 1949. She attended Bennington College, graduating in 1953, where she studied violin performance, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Performing throughout her life, Ruth played violin and viola in many groups including Greenwood Music Camp, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, the Worchester Symphony, the Boston Philharmonic, the Concord Orchestra, and numerous string ensembles. In addition to her musical career, Ruth was a regular volunteer for many organizations, including Boston's PBS Channel 2, the Dedham Women's exchange, Dedham Family Services and more. Recently widowed, she is survived by her children John and his wife Carolyn of, Tampa, FL, Susan and her husband James of Sedro Woolley, WA. and Austin and his wife Alison of Kingham, Oxfordshire, UK. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service, Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 11 am at St. John's Episcopal Church, 95 Deerfield Ave, Westwood.
