Obituary Condolences

KACOYANIS, Florence 93, of Osterville, formerly of Lexington, Mass., passed away on March 19, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Christopher Kacoyanis, after a marriage of 54 years, and also predeceased by her son Mark. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce K. Smiley, and her son-in-law Edward "Jack" Smiley, of West Palm Beach, Fla., her son John of Lowell, Mass., and her sister, Georgia Zographos, of West Roxbury, Mass. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Nicholas and James Papadonis, and her parents, John and Maria Papadonis of Somerville, Mass. Florence attended Somerville High School, studied dressmaking at the Boston Trade School for Girls, and dress design at the New England School of Art in Boston. In the 1940s she worked on custom dressmaking and design at I.Longhi, Inc., on Newbury Street. During World War II Florence worked on WAVES uniforms in Boston's garment district, and also helped prepare bandages for the Somerville Red Cross. Florence retired as a secretary from Xerox/Ginn Publishing Company before retiring to Cape Cod with her husband in 1981. She enjoyed arts and crafts and devoted much of her early retirement working on the Christmas bazaar and annual festival of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church of Cape Cod. Visiting hours will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, Mass. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd at the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church of Cape Cod, 1130 Falmouth Road, Centerville, Mass., followed by burial at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
