BARBAGALLO, Charles Of Belmont May 18, 2013. Beloved husband of Mary Lou (Ellis) Barbagallo. Loving father of Michael Barbagallo of Belmont, Elaine Sweeney and her husband Robert of Mashpee, Lauren Barbagallo and her husband Vassily Kotsonouris of Jersey City, NJ, Leslie Barbagallo and her husband Timothy Muldoon of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. Grandfather of Robert Emmett III, Isabella and Cameron Sweeney, Carolena and Nico Kotsonouris, and Devin and Lachlan Muldoon. Brother of Mary Hanson of S. Dartmouth, Joseph of NH, Ronald of Boston, Robert of Wakefield and the late Pasquale, Joan Murray, Gloria Andonian and Albert. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Charles had his own machining business, Polytech Products of Somerville, originally situated on the block he grew up on, and ran the machine shops in the physics and biology departments at Harvard University. At Harvard, he built a unique piece of equipment that sped the mapping of the human genome in universities around the globe, and was the basis for a US patent. He was an avid runner, competing in the New York City and Washington, DC marathons. As a US Army sergeant in WWII, he served in the European theater, landing on the beaches in France and defusing landmines.
