Obituary Condolences

RAMEY, Barbara May Of Pearl Street Park, Somerville, previously of Cambridge on June 20, 2013. Barbara passed peacefully in her sleep following a brief illness. She was survived by many family members, including many nieces, nephews and friends from all over the country. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Maude (Zwicker) and Edward Ramey, her sisters, Roxie Rosenbloom, Anne McNamara, Vivian Christophoro and Betty Ramey, special close friend Buddy (Elmo) Cooper and her "daughter" Linda A. Soroka. She is survived by her sister Thelma Bourne of Tewksbury, step-daughters Arlene and her husband Anthony Soroka of Wilmington and Jeanne Warren of Everett, her grandchildren Lisa Rinaldi of Litchfield, NH, Renee Morris of Melrose, Dedra Descoteaux of Revere, as well as 9 additional grandchildren, her great-children Alicia, Brianna and Anthony Rinaldi, Steven, Theo and Maximus Morris and Xavier Descoteaux as well as 10 more great-grandchildren. Her first great-great-grandchild is expected in November. Barbara was a fixture in her family's lives and many of her specially knitted sweaters and blankets will be passed on for generations. Barbara always brought her famous pizzelle and cool whip cookies to any family gathering and their absence will be noticed. Our family will sorely miss our "Nana" Barbara. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 2 pm at Pearl Street Park, 240 Pearl Street, Somerville, MA. Barbara was the last original tenant from the building and her friends are welcome to come celebrate her life with us. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara's name to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143 or the Somerville Council on Aging, 167 Holland Street, Somerville, MA 02144.
