Dear Nancy and family,
I just learnt about Jim's passing. He was a great mentor and a wonderful person both professionally and personally. I was planning to reach out to him just to find that he passed away. Such a loss. I know he lived a full life both at home and work, though. Condolences, Patrycja

Dear Nancy & Family,
I knew Jim through the Jaguar club & he was always a kind gentleman. My heart goes out to you because I also experienced losing my husband to pancreatic cancer. I wish you strength & healing.

I heard about Jim only today, February 4, from a friend, a retired MIT professor. Please accept my sympathy at a difficult time for you. I was an undergraduate in the same class as Jim, 1960, and we were actually lab partners for a course I can hardly remember. He really took charge of the labs, leaving me the write-ups to do, but I still managed to learn a lot from him! He was obviously a born teacher, and his distinguished career is no surprise. Again, ny condolences,

Leslie Klein

Dear Roberge Family,

Please accept my condolences on the passing of a wonderful and outstanding man. Professor Roberge was my favorite MIT faculty member. I had the privilege of his supervision for my thesis. Through that guidance and the learning I had through his courses, he had the most influence on successfully kicking off my career in engineering and engineering management. Professor Roberge will be truly missed remembered not only by your family, but also by the MIT community.

Dear Nancy and Family:

Jim was a terrific friend during our college and graduate school years. He continued to be my emotional anchor to MIT. It's terribly sad for me and I'm sure all of his many friends that his warm, happy, welcoming presence is no longer there. Best wishes for your grieving,
Dennis Staton

To the Roberge Family,
I am so sorry for your great loss. Nancy, you and Jim were such kind and thoughtful neighbors of mine when I lived on Liberty Ave. as your neighbor many years ago in Lexington. Jim was such a kind and funny person. Merrill Indeck(Gross)

Dear Nancy and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I am very fortunate to have shared an office with Jim for several years. He and I worked together on optical systems that we successfully launched into space. I have fond memories of long discussions with Jim about solving complex problems. He would also discuss his students with me, at length. I had the honor of hiring and mentoring several of his graduate students, whom he nurtured with care. I will miss Jim greatly.
Sincerely, Sarah Klein (physicist at MIT Lincoln)

My deepest condolences to the entire Roberge family. Jim was a true role model, inspiration, and friend to us all. I am so very fortunate to have had the opportunity to take Jim's courses in circuit design and to have had him as an advisor. As is the case for many, Jim left a lasting mark on my time at MIT, Lincoln Lab, and life beyond. I will miss him very much but reflect fondly on the lighthearted, upbeat attitude he brought to teaching, spending time with students, and talking about his love for trains.

I am going to miss hearing his voice (and laugh!) down the hall from him at Lincoln Lab. He was such an amazing teacher, approaching subjects with such delight and patience. He had mentioned how happy he was that he was able to teach 331 this semester. I am so sorry for your (and our) loss. He will truly be missed.

The thoughts and prayers of those of us at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory who had the privilege of working with and learning from Jim are with the Roberge family at this difficult time. Jim's in-depth knowledge of advanced analog circuitry, his keen insights into the critical aspects of a problem, and his ability to rapidly, yet cheerfully, guide teams to effective solutions allowed him to make major contributions to numerous programs of national importance. While we will miss Jim's presence, we will continue to benefit from his astute guidance.

My deepest condolences to the Roberge family. Jim Roberge was my advisor at MIT and was the inspiration for my career direction. His clarity of thought, genuine and effective caring, and ability to get things done was unmatched. I hope you find comfort in his many students carrying on his legacy through their contributions that are making the world a better place for all.

Dear Mrs. Roberge and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Prof. Roberge was one of the most inspirational professors I ever had. And he had a great sense of humor too. I particularly loved his train set demonstrations. He will be sorely missed by the entire community.

Dearest Mrs. Roberge, Jimmy and Anne, I am so sorry for your loss. Some of my earliest memories are of Dr. Roberge, his big smile, his laugh, his warm hug and just how happy he always made me feel. His spirit lives on in all of the memories, and the love he had for all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with him and all of you- Love, Elaine Barger
