THERESA E. JERALDI Obituary
Jeraldi, Theresa E. 88, of Watertown and Amesbury, passed away peacefully at home on February 8,2014 surrounded by her family. She leaves her three sons, Edward J. Griffith and his wife Barbara of Boston, Joseph J. Griffith and his wife Susan of Amesbury and William J. Griffith and his wife Colette of Walpole. A devoted grandmother of Edward James Griffith III, Stefan and Ian Dashner, Roxanne Griffith, Chantelle Griffith and Christian Griffith, she is also survived by many loving family members and friends. A graduate of Newton High School in 1943, graduate and valedictorian of UMass Boston in 1976, and a Masters graduate of Boston College School of Social Work in 1978, she became a tireless advocate for blind and handicapped people of all ages and walks of life. For many years Theresa served an Equal Opportunity Specialist at the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, an officer of the Cambridge Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind and an Advisory Board member for the Braille and Talking Book Library at the Perkins School for the Blind. Theresa traveled extensively in her personal and professional life, never allowing her own disability as a sight impaired person stop her mounting achievements. She set a strong example in her determination to live her life to the fullest. Her courage, faith, generosity and love will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.
