COFFEY, Mary Petrosky 90, of Wellesley, passed away on March 18, 2014 at home, surrounded by family. Mary Petrosky was born in 1924 in Pennsylvania coal-mining country. Her parents, John and Anna (Kamilla) Petrosky, moved to a farmhouse in southern New Jersey with Mary's siblings Anthony, Josephine, and Stella. Mary studied nursing in Norfolk, VA, and was a Cadet Nurse during WWII before working in a Camden, NJ hospital. There she met Edward Coffey whom she married in 1949. While raising six children and afterwards, Mary treasured her work as a visiting nurse and caregiver to several of her neighbors who valued her kindness and expertise. Active in the Catholic Church both in NJ and at St. John's and St. Paul's in Wellesley, Massachusetts, Mary was especially devoted to the Blessed Virgin for most of her life. Despite health setbacks, Mary was active until shortly after her 90th birthday and fell ill after a surgery. "Manya" came home to be cared for by her family and the wonderful caregivers of Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Mary Petrosky Coffey is survived by her husband Edward, daughters Marylyn, Camille, and Felicia and sons Michael, Brian, and Raymond, and five grandchildren. Charitable donations may be directed to Save The Children, 54 Wilton Rd., Westport, CT 06880. A Funeral Service will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16), WELLESLEY, on Tuesday March 25 at 11AM. Visitation prior to the Mass from 10-11AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
