RICHARD B. LIVA Obituary
LIVA, Richard Dick B. Of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2014, at the age of 85. Born in Quincy, Dick grew up in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School, where he was well known for his accomplishments in track, baseball and football. He was later inducted into the Weymouth Sports Hall of Fame. After high school he went on to attend college at Boston College. Richard was retired from Hazeltine Corporation in Braintree where he had worked for 30 years. Throughout his retirement, he took many car trips to visit friends in Albuquerque, New Mexico; however, one of his most memorable trips was when he drove the perimeter of the U.S.A. In more recent years, after taking in a stray dog that he named Timid, Richard could be seen on his daily walks throughout the town with Timid. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard is survived by his beloved daughters, Chris Liva of Weymouth and Lynne Liva of Weymouth. Son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Kelly) Liva. Devoted brother of Mary Campanelli and her husband Ronald of Braintree and the late Joseph Liva. Nephew of the late Bruno Liva. Dear uncle to Lisa, Ronna, Suzanne and Andrea and great uncle to Nicole, Marina, Chrissy and Jack. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., BRAINTREE. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Thursday from 10:00 -11:00 AM immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20036.
