WILLIAM COWPER BOYDEN MAGOUN Obituary
MAGOUN, William Cowper Boyden 85, of Scottsdale, Arizona died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 21 2014 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Patricia his wife of 48 years and is survived by two daughters, Margaret Slayne of Tucson, AZ and Mary Magoun of Chicago, IL, three grandchildren, Tallon, Lily and Aiden Slayne of Tucson, AZ, two sisters, Margaret Rothrauff of Acton, MA and Jean Farnsworth of Winnetka, IL, and many nieces and nephews. He was raised in Cambridge, MA, a devoted son to his late parents, Francis Peabody and Margaret Boyden Magoun and brother to the late Francis P. Magoun III. He attended the Shady Hill Elementary school, graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard University. He moved to Chicago in the early 1950's where he met his wife, entered into a lifetime career in financial services at William Blair and Co. and settled into family life for 24 years in Lake Forest, IL. He and his wife retired to Scottsdale, AZ in 1995 where they have enjoyed new friends and experiences. He was a life long bridge and backgammon player, an avid reader of war history and always a kind and gentle person. There will be a private service on Saturday in Arizona. Memorial contributions can be made to Safe Haven for Animals in Scottsdale and . Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary, Scottsdale, AZ
