1929 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
GUSTAFSON, Louise Mary (Kallinen) 84, a resident of West Groton, MA, passed peacefully, Monday, May 12, in her home. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves her husband of 60 years, Craig S. Gustafson Sr.; one daughter, Karla M. Gustafson of Windham, ME; one son, Dr. Craig S. Gustafson, and his wife, Christy of Groton; one sister, Virginia Benedict of Win-chendon, MA; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Louise Gustafson, John Craig Gustafson, Lydia R. Gustafson and David A. Gustafson; and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, William W., Charles W. & Robert F. Kallinen. Mrs. Gustafson was a 1946 graduate of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA, where she was her class Valedictorian. She later graduated as her class Valedictorian from Fisher Junior College, with a Degree in Secretarial Arts. She was a member of Christ the Redeemer Church in Danvers, MA. Through the years, she was a volunteer at several hospitals and was an active member of the Womans Council of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, MA. In addition, she was active with the Reach for Recovery Association, which helps woman that are recovering from breast cancer. Mom cared deeply for everyone she knew. She was always willing to help someone in need and had a kind and generous spirit. She was born in Fitchburg, MA, on July 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Walfred and Lydia (Keurulainen) Kallinen, and lived in Annisquam, MA for many years, before moving to West Groton six months ago. Her Funeral will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15, with a Service at 11 a.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water St., FITCHBURG. Rev. Dr. Raymond Pendleton will officiate. Burial will follow in New Cemetery, Ashburnham MA. Calling hours at the Funeral Home are Thursday, May 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Womans Council of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, 130 Essex St., South Hamilton, MA 01982 or the Imago School, 1 Percival St., Maynard, MA 01754 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
