ROSE HELEN (CAREY) QUIGLEY Obituary
QUIGLEY, Rose Helen (Carey) June 2, 1931 May 19, 2014. Rose passed away peacefully at her home up on the hill with the loving care of her family and Norwell VNA and Hospice. Rose was born in Boston to Mabel and Walter T. Carey Sr. A graduate of Cathedral High School, Rose met and married the love of her life, the late Hugh J. Quigley Sr. They began their journey in Dorchester and soon after, moved to Hanover where their family and dreams flourished. Together they owned and operated Debonair Kennels of Hanover. Rose was an all-around animal lover, but known to her friends as the dog nut. She was a top notch breeder and judge of German Shepherd show dogs, which took her travelling around the world. Rose had beautiful, happy puppies and many grew to be champions of the German Shepherd dog world. She was also a long time member of the American Kennel Club and a board member, volunteer, and President of the Bay State German Shepherd Dog Club. Debonair Kennels also provided shelter for lost and displaced animals for the Town of Hanover. When she wasnt busy with her six children or animals, Rose could be found working at Star Market and eventually at Myettes Country Store. Rose was a very happy sports fan especially when the Red Sox won the World Series and the Patriots won the Super Bowls. Rose also had a passion for dancing. She would dress up like a princess and hit the ballroom dance floor smiling. Affectionately known as Grama Rose, she will be sadly missed by her 19 grandchildren and her 17 great grandchildren, who brought her such joy. She touched many lives and will be missed by all who loved and learned from her. Wife of the late Hugh J. Quigley Sr., she was the mother of Hugh J. Quigley Jr. of Stoughton, William S. Quigley of Hanover, Theresa R. Doyle of Hanover, John F. Quigley of Hanover, Paul W. Quigley of Tamworth, New Hampshire, and the late Nancy A. Kelble. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53, HANOVER on Friday from 4-7 PM.
