JOSEPH L. HANSIS Sr. Obituary
HANSIS, Joseph L. Sr. Of Cambridge passed away peacefully on June 2, 2014. He was born in Cambridge on March 9, 1917 to the late Henry and Margaret (Lynch) Hansis. Beloved husband of the late Grace (Donnelly). Devoted father of Elaine Kneeland and her husband William of Sudbury, Joseph Jr. of Cambridge, Gary and his wife Kathleen of Malden and William of Cambridge. Loving grandfather of Adam Kneeland of Somerville, James Hansis and his wife Veronica of Stoneham and Kathryn Hansis of Malden. Brother of Doris Carlin of Cambridge, Gladys of Arlington, John of Tyngsboro and the late Henry Hansis, Mary Shanklin and William Hansis. Dear friend of the late Eileen Hayes. Joe was a WWII Veteran. He served in the Army Air Force and was a crewmember on a B17. In the words of Tom Brokaw, Joe was a member of the "Greatest Generation." After serving his country, Joe worked for New England Tel&Tel for 39 years. He was a member of the Retired Men's Club of Arlington. He was a Past President of the Knights of Matignon. Joe loved to play cribbage and bingo. Funeral from the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Rd., BELMONT, Saturday, June 7 at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Peter's Church, 100 Concord Ave., Cambridge at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
