FLOYD HARRISON PARKMAN Obituary
PARKMAN, Floyd Harrison 88, died June 7, 2014 at Riverwoods in Exeter, NH. Born December 23, 1925 in New York City, NY, daughter of the late John T. Harrison Sr. and Gertrude (Leverich) Harrison. Floyd grew up in New York City spending summers in Greens Farms, CT. She earned her BA in liberal arts from Bard College in Hudson, NY. She resided in Glenburn and Waverly, PA where Floyd greatly enjoyed the theatre and was a member of the Abington Players. In 1976, she married Theodore B. Parkman and they were married more than 20 years until his passing in 1997. Floyd was a longtime resident of Exeter and Newfields, NH. She loved to travel, was an avid gardener and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Floyd loved to entertain, read, play scrabble, boggle, Charades and always had a smile for everyone. Floyd was also a major advocate for people with dyslexia and in her 50s started tutoring Dyslexic and at risk children. She was a life member of the Episcopal Church, the last 35 years at Christ Church in Exeter. She was also a member of St. Andrew and St. Johns Episcopal Church in Seal Cove and Southwest Harbor, ME. Floyd is survived by her daughter and son in law, Anne Winslow Perry and Ross Perry of Concord, MA, her son and daughter in law, Kenelm H. Winslow and Nancy Winslow of Grapevine, TX and their daughter, Kency, and another son Christopher H. Winslow of Glenburn, PA. Her 4 step children and their spouses, Helen Chase Barnett and Peter, Theodore B. Parkman Jr. and Rachel, Ross M. Parkman and Anna, and Francis Parkman and Leslie Lynn Meeker, many step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 43 Pine St., Exeter, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the MA/NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
