JOSEPH EMMETT MOYLAN Obituary
MOYLAN, Joseph Emmett March 3, 1927 June 16, 2014 Of Ashburnham, formerly of Boston, born March 3, 1927, son of Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Kelly) Moylan, passed into our Lords everlasting care on June 16, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. A Navy veteran of World War II and graduate of Boston Latin School and The Wentworth Institute of Technology, he worked for many years at The Boston Gas Company, eventually becoming the senior member of the workforce. He was the gas man who came to fix heating systems and gas appliances while on the job and off hours the man who simply had to help the elderly and disadvantaged who could not afford repairs. Joseph could and would fix anything for anyone regardless of time of day or day of week. His countless acts of generosity and kindness were long remembered around Boston. He was for over thirty years the devoted husband of Jean Dobson Moylan, an administrative assistant at The Hebrew Home for the Aged in West Roxbury, whom he lost to cancer and heart disease at the age of 55. He later married Patricia Lynch Moylan, a former charge nurse and Maryknoll nun, and moved with her to Bonita Springs, Florida, where they were both extremely active in Catholic charities, most notably with St. Vincent de Paul Society. Joseph returned to Massachusetts after losing Patricia to illness in 2012 at the age of 85, living his remaining years with Paul and Teresa Moylan. Our beloved father Joe leaves behind 5 children: Donna, Kieran, Christopher, Jeffrey and Paul. In addition to his children, Joseph is survived by his beloved sister Kathleen Moylan, of Strafford, New Hampshire, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at St. Denis Catholic Church, 85 Main Street in Ashburnham on June 28 at 10 am. After the ceremony, there will be a memorial gathering at the home of Paul and Teresa Moylan at 70 Stowell Road in Ashburnham. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The of St. Vincent de Paul Society, location of your choice. For additional information, tributes and guest book, please visit www.duckett-waterman.com.
