JOHN M. "JACK" BARRETT Obituary
Barrett, John "Jack" M. 76, of South Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday, July 6, 2014, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Judith A. (Matthews) Barrett for 45 years. Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Jack was the son of the late Patrick M. and Margaret (Timmons) Barrett. Jack worked at the MBTA for 23 years and he was a proud member of the Carmens Union, Local 589. Following retirement, Jack moved to South Yarmouth, where his passion for antique cars and his infectious sense of humor made him an endearing member for many years in the Cape Cod Classic Car Club. He loved Boston sports, especially the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. Above all, Jack enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with members of his family. Loving father of Kevin Barrett & wife, Christine, of Dorchester; Michael Barrett & partner, Michele Milisi, of Dorchester; and Maureen Barrett of South Yarmouth. Loving Papa to his three grandchildren, Shannon, Sean & Kasey and three great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Callie & Shane. Dear brother of Margaret "Peggy" Sullivan of New Jersey, Nancy Reid of Norton, Joe Barrett of South Dennis, and Sheila Nee of East Dennis. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, the late Joan Donahue and brother, the late Thomas "Timmy" Barrett. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 10th, from 5-8pm, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, SOUTH YARMOUTH. A Funeral will form on Friday, at 12NOON, at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1pm, in St. Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 434 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02664 Hallett Funeral Home 508-398-2285 www.hallettfuneralhome.com
