Sergeant Major Kevin WALSH Obituary
WALSH, Sergeant Major Kevin 54, of Norwood, formerly of Easton and Plainville, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, July 17, 2014. Born in Boston, August 28, 1959, he was the beloved son of Michael J. Walsh of Plainville and the late Doris (Dunn) Walsh; the loving dear brother of Mary Lou McCarthy of Plainville, Michael Walsh and Margaret Itri of South Boston, Diane St. Jean of N. Attleboro, Richard Walsh and his wife, Carol of S. Attleboro, Susan Bisson of Hampden, brother-in-law of Daniel J. McCarthy of Taunton; the loving sweetheart of Susan Dowling of Norwood and her loving and cherished children, Matthew and Jennifer; and the cherished uncle of several nieces and nephews. Kevin attended Norwood and Easton High Schools. An artist, who enjoyed photography, motorcycles and electronic games, he was an avid movie buff. Most of all, he loved every minute of the job he did with the U.S. National Guard. Kevin entered military service in 1978 holding various positions within infantry units throughout his career. At the time of his passing, he was assigned as a Plans and Operations Officer at the Massachusetts National Guard Joint Force Headquarters, Hanscom AFB. Kevin deployed to Kosovo in 2006-2007 and Afghanistan in 2011. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 28, at 9:00 AM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 176 Washington St., East Walpole. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 27, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kevin's memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
