ANDREW CLEMENT Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 28 to Jun. 29, 2016.
CLEMENT, Andrew J. Petty Officer, Second Class Andrew J. Clement, 38, of Topsfield, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 while deployed to Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Born in Beverly, he was the son of Diane Clement of Florida. He was raised in Peabody, graduated from Peabody High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of San Diego. Andrew enlisted in the United States Navy in 1997, seeing action during Desert Storm and was honorably discharged in 2010. He re-enlisted and had served the past six years with the Naval Reserves. Andrew was never without a hardcover book in hand frequenting every local library reading for hours on end, nor lacked versing a quote from one of his favorite movies such as the Godfather, as well as a deep passion for politics, involving himself in campaigns, visiting every capital house in the U.S., or giving historical details about each and every president. He was committed to his country's soul and protecting her fiercely. Watching Jeopardy with him only made you realize either you were really dumb or he was incredibly smart, truly the latter. In addition to his mother, he is survived by Doris "Auntie Doris" Tweedy of Topsfield, aunt, Lois Tweedy of Vermont, uncle, Edward Tweedy of Florida, grandmother, Alice Tweedy of Florida and his extended family, The Cormier's. His funeral service will be held graveside, at the Central Cemetery, Butman Street, Beverly, Friday, July 1, 2016 at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, BEVERLY, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions may be made in his memory to your local town library. Andrew was one of the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Things didn't come easy for him sometimes but no matter what, he will always have a smile on his face. He LOVED reading. As a matter of fact, I think he still has a couple of my books. And I'm proud to say that I was the one who got him into classic films. I had to. Otherwise we would watch CSPAN all day. He would text me out of the blue to tell me what classic film he just watched. I enjoyed those chats. On my birthday i would always get a card from him. He said he'll never forget my birthday because its the same as John F. Kennedy. lol He was a good person. A good soul. Rest in Pease Andrew. I will never forget you.

I only knew Andrew for short time but enjoyed his intellectual conversations. As others mentioned, he always had a hardback book at his ready. I am terribly sorry to hear of his passing and hope the sadness his family must feel passes quickly.

So sorry to hear this. Andrew was a man who loved his country, he was very knowledgeable on U.S. history and politics. I remember him with a book in hand constantly. He was also a hard worker, I worked with him for nine months. Rest easy Andrew, thank you for the Times we had at work.

Andrew was a member of my unit with NOSC Quincy. He always had a hardcover book with him. He didn't show it, but he had a sense of humor and it showed from time to time. You will be missed.

Countless childhood memories with Andy. At 39 years old myself with a 7 year old of my own, if my son can find a friend that is half as good to him as Andy was to me growing up, than I know he'll be in good company. Rest well, friend. Send help.
