Walter C. Reid Obituary
REID, Walter C. "Sonny" Age 80, died at the Tampa General Hospital following a sudden illness. He was the devoted husband of Clare "Terry" (Bercher) Reid of Port Charlotte FL. Sonny was born in Plymouth MA on June 24, 1928, son of the late Walter E. and Agnes (Scagliarini) Reid. He was educated in Plymouth and a graduate of Plymouth High School Following his high school education, he entered the US Navy where he honorably served during the Korean War. For most of his life Mr. Reid worked as a senior project electrical engineer, retiring from Metcalf and Eddy in 1991. He was a Former Commander of the American Legion Post #40, Cold Spring Club and the Unity Club. He is survived by his wife, Clare "Terry" (Bercher) Reid of Port Charlotte FL, and was the loving father of Scott Reid of Plymouth MA, Mark Reid of Naples FL, Mike Owens of Maumee OH, Kevin Reid of Naples FL, Chris Reid of San Antonio TX, and Vicki Rellas of Sherborn MA. He was the beloved brother of Kenneth Reid of Plymouth and Peggy Bernardo of Middleboro MA. He was also the cherished grandfather of twelve. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM at the Christ Church Episcopal, 149 Court St., Plymouth MA with Rev. Ted Cole officiating. Friends may call at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., PLYMOUTH MA on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
