Obituary Condolences

MALLOY, Dennis C. 57, of Pembroke, formerly of Hanover, died suddenly on May 20, 2009 of arterial sclerotic heart disease. The son of Charles Malloy of Bridgewater and the late Doris (Lynch) Malloy, he was born in Quincy on May 7, 1952. Dennis was raised in Hanover, graduated from Thayer Academy and held a B.S. Degree in Political Science. Dennis was a Police Officer in Hanover for 15 years and retired from the motorcycle squad in 2002 after losing his leg in the line of duty. Prior to his law enforcement career, he composed music and entertained as a folk singer in various places, including summers in Nantucket. He was well known for his assistance in managing the Cathay Hanover restaurant and the Cathay Center restaurant in Weymouth. He helped raise funds for many local charities. Dennis had many friends in the entertainment industry, local politics and law enforcement. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Along with his father, Charles Malloy, Dennis is survived by his loving companion of many years, Susie Chu of Pembroke, 2 sisters: Cheryl Meegan of Bristol RI and Karen Rickards and her husband Pete of No. Marshfield, a brother: Edward Malloy and his wife Kathleen of Sherborn. He was the uncle of Keith Dutton, Kevin Malloy, Connor Meegan, Kathleen Meegan and Erin Malloy. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 27, 9 AM at St. Mary's Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Tuesday from 4-8 PM with a police walkthrough at 6 PM.
