Peter Alfred Barry

Obituary Condolences

BARRY, Peter Alfred "Big Pete, BPB," 55, of Sagamore Beach, died Oct. 31, 2009. Born March 24, 1954, in Springfield, he was the son of the late Francis A. Barry, and is survived by his mother, Marguerite Louise Barry of Worthington. He was the loving brother of Margaret Nareau of Huntington, Barbra Lagoy of Ashfield, Francis Barry of Leavenworth, Kan., and Michael Barry of Richmond, Va.; beloved father of Michael Barry, Justin Kettell and Brandon Kettell of Sagamore Beach, and Peter S. Barry of Baltimore, Md. He is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Peter was the proud father of his true sons and a network of extended sons and daughters. Among other attributes, his most notable was the generosity of his time. An accomplished carpenter and builder, Peter taught many young men, including his sons, the skills of the trade. But more importantly, he mentored and instilled in them a strong work ethic. His free spirit fueled his love of the outdoors, and more often than not he could be found fishing or pulling traps off the shores of Sagamore Beach. Peter had more friends than any man could hope for, but this is no surprise as he cherished his friends and always put them and their needs first. A man of this caliber will surely be remembered with respect for an eternity. A reception will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Hemisphere (waterfront dinning), 98 Town Neck Road, Sandwich, 508-888-6166.
