ROACHE, William F. (Ret. Deputy Chief BFD & Assistant to Fire Commissioner). In Hanson formerly of Allston & Somerville January 28, 2010. Beloved husband of Mary P.( O'Leary). Devoted father of Thomas and his wife Donna of Rockland, William and his wife Joan of Norfolk, Michael and his wife Marjorie of Wilmington, Marybeth Roache of Newton, Gerard and his wife Megan of Hanson and Timothy and his wife Meghan of NH. Brother of Patrick of West Roxbury, Helen Collins of Abington, Kay Glover of Dorchester and the late James of Medford and Rita Bartalone of Arlington. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lehman & Reen Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave. (Nr. Brighton Courthouse) BRIGHTON Monday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Anthony Church, 43 Holton St., Allston at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hrs Sunday 4-8 pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Late member of K of C Allston #555, VFW Post #669 Allston, St. Anthony Church Choir, Scout Master of Cub Scout Pack 5 Allston, and first President of Allston Civic Association. Bill was a Boston Firefighter for 39 years, a Firefighter at Ladder 14 Allston, Lieutenant at Rescue 1 Boston, District Chief Ladder 20 Roxbury and Deputy Fire Chief at Headquarters, Boston. Decorated three times for his rescue efforts at a fire with the Roll of Merit, the Walter Scott Medal, and received the Chief John V. Stapleton Medal in 1985. Member of the 82nd Airborne WW II.
