LEN, Helen M. (Chin) Age 85, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at her home in Groton, MA. She was married to the late Richard G. Len on June 29, 1952. She is survived by her five children, V. Rose Len of Groton, MA, Janine Pipitone (spouse of Edward Pipitone) of Pembroke Pines, FL, Ilene Ball (spouse of Edward C. Ball) of Swampscott, MA, Marie Hill (spouse of Thomas G. Hill) of Lynnfield, MA and Richard G. Len, Jr. (spouse of Catherine Stokley) of Kennesaw, GA. Also 11 grandchildren: Kelly Robert Flynn of York, PA, Amy Nelsen (spouse of Wayne Nelsen) of Seattle, WA, Jared Ball of Santa Rosa, CA, Caroline Ball of Manchester, NH, Kathryn and Richard Hill of Lynnfield, MA, Samantha and Vanessa Pipitone of Pembroke Pines, FL, Richard G. Len, III, Erica Helen and Natalie Len of Kennesaw, GA. Also two great-grandchildren Ila and Dogen Nelsen of Seattle, WA. She is survived by her five siblings, Amy Guen (spouse of Edward), Ann Wong (spouse of Barry), Rose Len (spouse of the late Albert), Billy Chin (spouse of Josephine) and Frank Chin (spouse of Kathleen), dear friends Stanley and Emily Ng and several nieces and nephews. Helen Len was born in Boston Chinatown in 1925 to Moy Shee and Chin Wah. She grew up in Taishan, Guangdong Province, China. In 1946, she returned to Boston and attended Regis College. Helen married Richard in 1952 and raised their five children in Lynn. Her passions were being with her five siblings, preparing elaborate meals for her children and grandchildren, planning and organizing family celebrations, keeping up with current events, watching Food TV and shopping. She worked as a bookkeeper for the R.G. Len Co., Imperial Tea House, and several other family-owned Chinese restaurants. Her favorite job was as a hostess at the China Pearl Restaurant. Her philosophy was, "If you are nice to people, they will be nice to you." There will be a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, 125 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02111 on Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 am. Family will receive friends and relatives at 9:00 am at the church before the 10:00 Mass. Parking lot opens at 8:00 am, Directions to St. James Parking Lot: (Old YMCA/Tufts Medical Center Parking Lot on Hudson Street). From the Mass Pike, 93 N or 93 S turn left from Kneeland Street onto Hudson Street. The parking lot is on your right after the first building. From downtown, Chinatown Kneeland Street, turn right onto Hudson. Parking attendants are on duty. All are welcome to participate in the funeral procession to Forest Hill Cemetery, Jamaica Plain.
