Obituary Condolences

COSTELLO, Martin J. Of Weymouth, formerly of Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury, age 76, entered into eternal life on December 24, 2010. Marty was born and raised in Jamaica Plain before moving to Weymouth in 1969 to raise his family with his beloved wife, the late Catherine "Kay" (Doherty). Father of Catherine Demers and her husband John of Scituate, Maryann Duran and her husband Jay of Woburn, Patricia McLaughlin and her husband Kevin of North Weymouth, Joseph Costello of Waterville, ME, John Costello and his wife Katie (McMenamy) of Weymouth, and Susan Costello of San Antonio, TX. Loving "Papa" to Timothy, Thomas, Peter, Lily, and Hope Demers; Kerry, Siobhan, and Jack Duran; Daniel, Terrence and Catherine McLaughlin; Aidan, Eileen, and Annie Costello. He was the son of the late John J. and Catherine (Hansbury) Costello of Jamaica Plain, and County Galway, Ireland. Brother of Mary (Costello) Maloney and her husband Tom of West Roxbury and the late John Costello, formerly of Brockton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Costello was a long time employee of the United States Postal Service, serving as a clerk in the Weymouth Landing branch for 27 years until his retirement in 2005. He served during the Korean War with the United States Air Force and was a member of The Jamaica Plain American Legion Post 76, Knights of Columbus Council 5027 in South Weymouth, and The Irish Social Club of Boston. Mr. Costello was a daily communicant and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth and for many years served as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist to the homebound. Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St. on Thursday, December 30 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church Weymouth, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 6-9pm. Burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
