Hugh Thomas Lyons Obituary
LYONS, Hugh Thomas 50+ year resident of Lexington, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16th, 2011, surrounded by his family. Hugh graduated from Belmont high School in 1941. He served in the Army during WWII. Hugh was married to E. Lois Decker of Winthrop, MA for 62 years. His career spanned 40 years of dedicated work for New England Telephone. He was an avid skier well into his eighties, a long time member and former president of Lexington Ski Club, North Woodstock, NH. He volunteered at Bedford VA hospital for over 20 years, amassing over 4,561 hours of service. A handyman extraordinaire, Hugh had an uncanny knack for fixing everything under the sun!! He is survived by his wife E. Lois Lyons of Lexington, son Stephen T. Lyons and his wife Janet of Wilmington, daughter Susan Charczuk and her husband Glenn of Omaha, NE, daughter Stacey A. Murray and her fiance David White of Manchester, NH, and son Stuart S. Lyons and wife Ha of Bel Air, MD, and nine grandchildren, Christopher, Phillip, Douglas, Gregory, Katherine, Deborah, Vy, Jessica, and Kevin. Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. LEXINGTON Thursday Jan. 20 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bedford VA Medical Center, 200 Springs Rd. Bedford, MA 01730. Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
