I remember visiting Ruthie and Louie at Monument Beach each year with my parents on the way to the Vineyard. The house was always full of people and as more and more came by Ruthie would keep adding another pound of spaghetti to the pot. I loved it there and I will always remember those good times

Ruth Smullin, my grandmother,on my mother's side of the tree that bares this fruit we call us Smullins and Joneses, had some secret spark or "blessing" or ability to appreciate the fineness of life or being a light in the darkness...I say this though we never quite spoke of such things between us, among her never ending questions of the overlooked details of my life. Still her mysterious silence over matters mysterious I credit with much my own inspiration to seek and if ever so subtly with humour and healthy scepticism in tact, to enjoy what I find. Though I will miss her together as a community with you, I will not miss her saddly because she is ever so much a part of me. Bon Voyage Grandma Ruth, Blessed Be in the beyond... I hear the bird watching out there is really something else...and the music...rest sweetlty.
Love forever, Gabriel

I have just learned of Ruth's passing. Ruth was the very dear friend of my mother, Adele Colman. They were classmates at Arlington High School and mother always told the story of meeting each other and realizing that they were both Jewish. Ruth was the loveliest, gentlest and most devoted of people I have known. My condolences to all her family.

Your mother was a great friend to my mother. My whole life I heard stories of wonderful Ruthie Smullin. In the last years of my mother's life, Ruthie would call her every week. Even though going through her own painful times, Ruthie made room to show my mother love and concern. My deepest sympathy to you.
