Lawrence J. Monaldo Sr. Obituary
MONALDO, Lawrence J. Sr. 93, of West Yarmouth, MA, passed away on July 4, 2011 at his home of natural causes. Joining The United States Army in 1942 he served as a First Lieutenant during World War II in the European Theater and was Commander of the 519th Artillery Gun Battalion. After his tours in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland, Lawrence earned the World War II Victory Medal, and the American and European Campaign Ribbons, a recognition and honor for both Lawrence and his family. After the war, Lawrence worked as a District Manager for Prudential Insurance Co. before retiring to Cape Cod with his wife Mary and their children.. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, of which there were many. Lawrence is the beloved husband of the late Mary C. (Riordan) Monaldo and is survived by his children, Dr. Lawrence Monaldo, Jr, and his wife Mary Ann of Lynnfield, MA; Robert Monaldo and his wife Anne of West Yarmouth, MA; and Denise Rooney of Boston, MA. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kristen MacEachern, Alyson Manoogian, Laine Borman, and Bria Monaldo, as well as four great grandchildren: Ryan, Brendan, Shane, and Lily. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 7 from 4 - 7 PM at the Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth (508-398-2121). A service with military honors will be held on Friday July 8, at 10:30 AM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
