Allard, Herbert K.
Of Manchester-by-the Sea, died May 12, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife, Catherine Curtis, his sisters-in-law Polly Burrus of Washington, D.C., Fanny Luke of New York City, Laura Cutler of Manchester, MA as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his cousins James and Lina Cashin of Bellevue, NE both are colonels in the US Air Corps. Herb graduated from Phillips Exeter School and from Harvard University in 1948 with an BS degree and in 1951 with an MBA from the Business School. During World War II Herb served in the US army in Germany. He loved being out in the woods with his English pointers seeking woodcock and grouse, during which time he often did surveys for the state of Maine. He enjoyed tennis, squash and fishing with his many friends and keeping up with all the latest jokes. Additionally, but not least, Herb loved his garden and loved sharing it's bounty with friends and family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25th at 11 a.m. at St John's Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Herbert's memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923 or Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Rd., Lincoln, MA 01773.
