MURPHY, Robert L. Of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth and Dorchester, age 89, entered into eternal life on June 3, 2012. Bob was born and raised in Dorchester and has lived in Weymouth and Braintree for many years. Mr. Murphy was a WWII Army Veteran. Mr. Murphy was vice president and treasurer of the AFL-CIO, Local 301, Mailhandlers Union for many years. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Dorchester. Bob supported the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Program and the N.E. Home for Little Wanderers. He played football for City of Boston Park League. Beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Bradford). Devoted father of Mary Ann Francis of Braintree, William W. Murphy of Holbrook, James E. Murphy of Braintree, and Edward J. Murphy of Weymouth. Loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of the late Edward Murphy. Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St., WEYMOUTH LANDING on Thursday, June 7 at 8:30 am. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 9:30 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 Pm. Burial in Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
