Tenney, Janet (Jay) Mary
Of Peabody, MA, died peacefully on September 11. Daughter of the late Roger Creighton Tenney and Mary Craig Tenney of Arlington. Sister of the late Marcia Lewis Tenney, Roger Creighton Tenney, Jr. and Richard Craig Tenney. Beloved sister-in-law of Hildegard and Virginia. Beloved aunt of Craig, Cynthia, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Kimberly, and Sandra Wheaton. Five grand nephews and one grand niece. Jay was born in Arlington, MA on September 1, 1931, where she resided until 2004. Before graduating from Arlington High School, Jay was active in sports and captain of the tennis team for two years. She modeled for Jordan Marsh (Marsha Jordan), John Hancock (Miss John Hancock) and other companies. After 38 years of service at John Hancock, Jay retired as Director of Training of Systems Analysts. Jay was a past Deacon of Arlington Pleasant Street Congregational Church, an active member of the Tenney Family Association and excelled in cooking and crafts. Jay enjoyed her recent years at Brooksby Village with her friends and her chihuahua-mix rescue dog, Beebee. Memorial service to be held at Brooksby Village Chapel, Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA Monday September 24 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay's name to Brooksby Benevolent Care Fund, 100 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960.
