MICCICHE, Michael F. Sr. Of York Maine, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his wife and sons on Wednesday June 12, 2013, at age 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was formerly of Medford, Winchester, and Ipswich, MA. Mike lives on through his loving wife and best friend of 55 years, Barbara (Stevens), sons Michael Jr. of York, ME, Stephen (Jennifer) of Chester, NJ, Jeff (Carolyn) of Louisville, KY, Mark (Jayne) of Winchester, MA, Chris (Anna) of Alexandria, VA, Matt (Frances) of Baltimore, MD, and Frank (Pam) of Falls Church, VA., as well as his brother Romano (Marilyn) of Naples, FL, 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his mother Flora and father Frank as well as grandsons Michael Micciche, III (June 12, 2001), and Brian Micciche (June 2, 2005). Mike retired from NYNEX/Verizon in 1994 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement in Maine, walking the beach with Barbara and enjoying the company of his beloved dogs, Chester and Polo. He will be always loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, ME with an hour of visitation from 10am-11am in the Church. Immediately following the family will host a reception for family and friends at the York Historical Society's, Jefferds Tavern, located at 6 Lindsay Road, York, Maine. The family would like to express our appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the York Hospital Hospice team. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Michael F. Micciche, III, Bowdoin Scholarship Award Fund, Bowdoin College, 4100 College Station, Brunswick, ME 04011.
