CHARLES MAHONEY Obituary

Mahoney, Charles Hugh (Bud)
Age 71, of Niceville, Florida passed away November 8, at Superior Residences of Niceville. Bud grew up in Malden, MA. He was predeceased by his parents Edward F. and Kathryn E. Mahoney, and by his beloved brother Paul. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Renate Mahoney (nee Rehr), of Niceville, his sister Kathryn E. of Melrose, his brother Edward F. of North Andover, his brother John and sister-in-law Bernadette of Rochester, NH, and by his brother-in-law Michael Rehr and sister-in-law Marian Rehr of Ajax, Ontario. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, and by his great nieces and great nephew. After a career in the Air Force, he earned his Bachelor of Business Science at the University of Syracuse. He worked as a computer specialist at the Eglin AFB Mathematics Laboratory until his retirement in 2004. He had a brilliant mind and comprehended analytical concepts easily. He was compassionate and had a great sense of humor. HIs passions were the Red Sox, reading, listening to jazz and classic rock, political satire and the outdoors. He enjoyed social gatherings with his family and friends, good food and fine wine. His lively wit and political acumen as well as his ritual making of Feuerzangenbowle (hot spiced wine) at Christmas will greatly missed by his family and friends. Bud was a Vietnam veteran. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory made be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

I knew Charlie when he worked in the Plans and Programs division in the "Math Lab." He was a super person and always happy. I feel honored to call him a friend. He will be greatly missed, and remembered.

Barbara,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Charlie. While I cannot pretend to know how you feel, I do know this:
At the very moment we lose a loved one, that is the furthest from them we will ever be. Every moment after that just means we are getting closer to the Grand Reunion. May the Lord bless Charlie and all his loved ones!
