FLORENCE CHAPMAN PEARSON Obituary
PEARSON, Mrs. Florence Chapman 1915-2013, passed away Dec. 3 at Riverwoods in Exeter, NH. Florence was a member of the class of 1937 at Wellesley College, where she majored in music and studied violin at New England Conservatory, attending Tanglewood in its inaugural season. She taught at Shady Hill School, Phillips Andover and Phillips Exeter Academies. An active member of the Newburyport community since 1948, she married Dr. Robert Winsor Pearson, who served for 40 years at Anna Jacques Hospital. Florence outlived him and her second husband, John Sedoric of Exeter, NH; and leaves behind four grateful daughters: Gay, Beth, Loren and Lea Pearson. All who knew Florence valued her joie de vivre and her love of beauty in both nature and music. A musical celebration of her life will be held at the First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist, 26 Pleasant Street, Newburyport, MA on January 18th, 2014, at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to send contributions for summer music camp scholarships to the Winsor Music Scholarship Fund, 312 Waltham Street, Lexington, MA 02421, http://winsormusic.org.
