JOEL LIPOF Obituary

Lipof, Joel A. Metal Finishing Professional, died April 26, 2014 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 65 years old. Born in Dorchester, Mr. Lipof grew up in Newton and attended Lowell Technological Institute majoring in Chemistry and Management. Mr. Lipof worked in the Metal Finishing industry for 43 years and was a 35-year member of the American Electroplating and Surface Finishing Society, with a specialty in Aerospace metal finishing compliance. Later, he audited facilities around the world as a Chemical Processing Lead Auditor, bringing these facilities up to strict NADCAP certification. He loved sports and home remodeling, but most of all he loved his family, especially his wife, son and daughter-in-law. He is survived by his wife Melanie R. (Weber) of Attleboro, son Jared A. Lipof and daughter-in-law Karen Elisabeth Tucker of Asheville, NC. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2 at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover at 12:30pm. Joel is constantly being remembered. I am back at Burndy in Lincoln, NH, where we worked, laughed, and shared our thoughts for many years in the 1990’s. I “see” him here with every walk I take in the building, and former friends & co-workers of his ask about him every few months when they return or call. They all loved Joel and he is always remembered fondly; always with a smile. Thanks Joel, our friend.

My condolances to Mel & Jared on your loss. I can never hope to alleviate your pain, but know that Joel is missed by the many people whose lives he touched and made better. We are all better for knowing him.
Joel was one of the best friends I ever had, a wonderful boss, a knowledgable colleague, a confidant, and like a brother. I am sorry that he had to be taken from us this way.
God bless you, Joel!

I will miss a great neighbor who was always willing to lend advise or a hand. He was full of knowledge. Neighbor by accident, friend by choice. He certainly loved his Boston sports, and we had many conversations about Boston vs St. Louis. He got the better of us again this past year. He will be missed. My condolences to Mel, Jared, and Karen.
