Irma was a regular at the United Fly Tyers and was often teased about the fur coat she wore and how it would make good material for fly tying. Irma was very popular among the club members and will be missed.

Dear Dr. Lessell,
She will be missed. She was one of the kindest and most caring physicians I have ever had and will always keep her in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss.

She made me proud of "lady doctors". What a great example to her children and grandchildren: to keep learning forever...Sue Benes

Dear Simmons,
I am so sorry to hear of Irma's death. She was a terrific lady. Not just a wonderful neuro-ophthalmologist but a wonderful person as well.
With sympathy,

Dear Simmons,
Have not seen you since we all were on NO Program in Montreal, and we then went up to Mt. Tremblant, to ski, for a few days. I broke my leg and Joel Glazer dislocated his shoulder, and my (then) wife Barbara, took care of us on our flight back to Miami. I didn't know Irma, but she sounds like a most special person...in fact, "one of a kind" person. I can only say that such a loss is monumental, especially after the almost 60 years of life together. I regret your loss and send you my warmest thoughts of support, across the miles. I've been living and working in Aspen since the early 90's...but I miss BPEI and my early life hero's, JLS, Nobby, Joel, Daroff, and others....sadly, the moving finger writes, and we must, by whatever means, make the best of it. With sadness, I hope your pain will not be overwhelming. Fondly, David

I am very sorry to hear of Irma's passing. As a colleague I had great admiration for her. She had a sense of humor and was very smart. I remember her sitting at Medical Grand Rounds, taking everything in while knitting continuously. A lovely person. She will be much missed.
My condolences to her family.
